But spare keys.
I do this with my dog, I’ll keep it running but take a non ignition key with me (Lowes made them for me without transponders for $2 each). This way car is locked, but running.

We actually have a huge problem with dog theft in my area, from yards and from parked cars. I refuse to leave my dog in my car in this town.

I hope there’s a similar note on the other side to protect those windows from getting smashed...

That’s crazy. I never heard about it.

My friend has a diesel F350, he leaves it on with AC and takes a second key.

I have a bulldog, he gets so much attention I just can’t leave him anywhere, I have no doubt he could be stolen. He is so nice, he has no problems with strangers. I think with food he would get into any car haha.

Yeah my dog is not aggressive and... not loyal u_u

You mean an English Bulldog? In my experience if you feed them loads and give them plenty of peace to sleep & fart they don’t care who you are.

To leave the AC on the car has to be on. Who leaves their car running and with all the accessories on, just so they don’t have to bring their dog with them?

Some people are so passionate about dogs they will break into cars if they think the dog isn’t being cared for (rightly so in many situations) but sometimes you need to leave note or put up signs to say the dogs well being is being taken care of.
Even our police dog cars have signs on.

And the dog is slowly dying from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Brilliant.

dog theft? really?
who does that? its not like the resale on dogs is great, and the pounds are literally giving dogs away.

Resale value on dogs is quite high here. This state has an unquenchable fetish for Datsuns, old Toyotas, and dogs. Puppies are sold between 200 and 1500. We have issues with puppy mills as well.

What the hell is this world coming to? I for one welcome the upcoming ww3/anarchy and the sweet death it will likely bring.

On my car I can take the keys and leave it running, as long as you don’t pull the choke. Bu then again there is no ac or heat so there is absolutely no point.

I’ve done it on a road trip when needing to eat and couldn’t bring the dogs with me. Made sure I parked where I could see the car from the restaurant.

I don't leave my dogs in my car but I know no one would want to steal them because they all become cujo in a car barking at everything that walks by.
![]() 05/29/2016 at 08:40 |

You could take the remote and lock the car with it running. So free car, but you'd have to break the window, and you wouldn't be able to turn it off ever.
![]() 05/29/2016 at 08:41 |

Two words - dog fights. They will just steal the dogs, since pound dogs aren't usually in peak physical condition.

Ha. I did that at the end of work to warm up imy car up but I didn’t know that the keyless entry was disabled when the car was running....

The new push button start cars will keep running after you walk away with the keys. A woman in our building left her car running all day by accident. I saw it in the morning and happened to share an elevator with her in the afternoon. Her surprise when she found it running was priceless. If I had known it was her car, I would have told her.
![]() 05/29/2016 at 10:18 |

I didn’t think of that. Our Nissan Quest soul murderer will do that.
That can’t be good for the car to run all day like that
![]() 05/29/2016 at 10:48 |
|
I’m not so sure. They are designed to run all day at freeway speeds with the engines turning over at 2,000 rpm or higher. Sitting in a parking lot at idle shouldn’t be a big deal. There isn’t as much cooling airflow, but the load is zero.
Either way, it didn't seem to hurt her car.

I thought the cat would overheat or something without any air flow and break down
![]() 05/29/2016 at 15:07 |
|
Good point. I'm not sure what the operating temperature and maximum temperature would be. I would think they would have active cooling on something where overheating might be an issue.

I just saw this somewhere haha
